City of Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and an important administrative center of the county town. In addition, because of its position Rijeka is one of the largest ports of Central Europe.
According to the latest census, the city of Rijeka has 144,043 inhabitants. With its area of 44km2 Rijeka lies in the Kvarner Bay in North Dalmatia.
Rijeka is famous for many things. The first torpedo in the world is built in Rijeka in 1866 years, and created by Croatian captain John Luppis and British engineer Robert Whitehead.
