Split with its over 200,000 inhabitants second largest city in Croatia and the largest city in Dalmatia, and important commercial, industrial, sports and tourist center. It lies on the Dalmatian coast in Split (Marjan) peninsula and is surrounded by the seaside with islands of Brac, Hvar and Vis, and in the hinterland areas of the Dalmatian hinterland.

One of the sights and certainly the pride of Split is Diocletian's palace, which covers the city center and which dates from the 4th century, and the 1979th is under UNESCO protection. Then we mention the Cathedral of St. Duje (St. Duje is the patron saint of Split), which is located in the complex of Diocletian's Palace, and many monasteries, churches and monuments.

The main square is the Peristyle, which because of its excellent acoustics today serves as a stage for numerous musical spectacles. There is a square Prokurative which is located along the western walls of Diocletian's Palace which is held at a traditional festival of popular music "Split".

From Split Museums there are: Archaeological Museum, Ethnographic Museum, Museum of Split, Maritime Museum, Natural History Museum and the zoo, the Art Gallery and Gallery Mestrovic.

Citizens of Split like to say for Split that "the best sports town in the world", which can be substantiated by the fact that after the Olympic Games in Athens 2004. The Split city with the most Olympic medals in the world relative to population.
