Divided into two island groups: upper Kornati (Šitski and Žutski islands range from a total of 51 islands) and the Lower Kornati (Kornati and Piškerski island range from a total of 98 islands). Allocated to Kornat largest island with an area of 32.5 km2.
National Park is situated in the central part of the Adriatic Sea and extends part of the Sibenik archipelago and part of Zadar archipelago.
National Park is extremely rich in flora and fauna. In the vegetable world is on Kornati far found about 537 terrestrial plant species, and about 352 marine species. As for the fauna, so far, unfortunately, has not conducted any significant research, only a little more research devoted marine fauna which has so far registered about 850 animal species.
Due to its geographical position and low altitude air in the entire Kornati archipelago is characterized by balanced and dry and hot summer and rainy autumn.
Increase in tourism over the past few decades, Kornati offer plenty of tourist activities. One of them is the cruise island labyrinth is a paradise for boaters. In addition, it is very popular and diving, swimming, hiking on the islands with the possibility of observations of flora and fauna of Kornati. The only way to Kornati is the arrival by sea, and boat-friendly, and organized excursions from almost every coastal town of Sibenik and Zadar region.
