Because of its exceptional natural phenomena of flora and fauna, North Velebit in 1999. was declared a national park. The park with his area of 109km2 rugged many of mountain trails which are known Premužićeva path which is only possible and allowed visitors to pass through the park.

The very great wealth of Velebit are Flora and Fauna of the National Park. On the mountain of Velebit is situated about 2700 plant species, of which the National Park has over 1500 plant species.
